Let me start off with I HATE that when silly insecure white men feel so afraid that women are over taking over the world that they need to appropriate something girly to make themselves fell like men again. I’m sure there is a weird psychological term for it. I really don’t have hours to search the For example buns, or braids, or the romper.
The only time a man could be allowed to sport a “man” bun is I don’t know maybe if he is a ballet dancer with long hair and the company he is with allows that sort of thing. Other than that no man should walk around it a bun and have the nerve to call it a “man” bun.
It’s not a “man” bun! It’s just a plain old bun. Let’s call a spade a spade, and a bun a bun. It doesn’t make something more manly if you put the word “man” in front of it. You’re just a dude wearing a bun probably in a romper.
Most of these “man” buns I have seen are just sad looking. Logically if you have a short hair in general, a bun is difficult look for one to rock.
If you notice guys who rock a ponytail don’t call it a “man” ponytail. It’s always been a ponytail. If you want to dress like a lady call it what it is. Don’t throw the word “man” in front of it to justify your manly need for a bun or braid. I don’t think it means what you think it means.
A lot or trends repeat over the years so I guess it’s not shocking that the high waist aka the “Mom Jeans” are back. You don’t that kind of nickname because it’s amazing. That being said I’m not looking forward to the return of the low-low risers either. However that’s for another day.
Does the high waist look good? I’m going to say after a brief google search and general real life views the answer is : NO. Skinny, Curvy, Big, Average, Tall, Short, etc. I don’t feel I’ve seen anyone look amazing in them. Maybe it’s because every look I’ve seen of it is ladies showing it off. I’m going to have to carry around a picture of so bad Mom Jeans from the 80s and starting going up to girls and saying this is what you look like when you sport the high waist. While I’m not sure how well that will go over, it might be worth it is I save just one girl. Legally I don’t think I can be arrested for it. Unless you consider it harassment…Note to self: research Street Harassment Laws. I’m assuming if Catholics can tell me I need to find God in parking lot I tell people they are committing crimes against Fashion.
The only safe way to wear anything with a high waist it to make sure your top covers the actual high waist. Bodysuits are not meant for this. People who say wear what you want are wrong and fashion blind. Not everyone is meant to rock certain looks. However, in this case NO ONE is meant for this trend.
While this trend has been hot for a while now and I have even tried it out, I have to wonder how silly it will look in photographs 10 years from now. ” Hey Mum, remember when you wore the end of a bookmark as earrings? ” Well, that’s if kids of the future even know what an actual bookmark looks like. Because lets be real that’s what they are. Some designer used to be a reader back in the day, probably was spring cleaning, found a collection of bookmarks and goes: hmm…I know just how to re-purpose these bad boys. Earrings! Necklaces! Bracelets! Purse Charms!
Sometimes while I applaud the creativity I have to wonder if designers are just messing with us. For example some peeps were sitting around drinking one night and in their drunken haze was playing with a bottle cap. Remember when those were a thing? Earrings everywhere. So horrid. But lots of girls rocked that look for some reason. Maybe they thought it made them look tough? I still have nightmare about that. If you want to be a bad A@# bottle caps are so not the way to go.
Sorry guess my ADD kicked in there, back to Tassels. If bookmarks aren’t your thing, lets compare them to cat toys. I have this wand that my cat, Pepper, carries everywhere. Its a string with about 5 tassels and some feathers. If someone comes into my house wearing tassel anything they better be prepared for a cat attack.
So Tassel=Bookmark or Cat toy. So Tacky. This trend is not there to stay.
